Figure Skating

Private tuition during the Figure Skating Training Times is available for skaters who skate at Skate School Novice One Level or above. Skaters are encouraged to attend the Skate School until they have completed, or are at equivalent standard, to all of the Skate School Kiwi Skate Badge Levels up to Freestyle, the twelfth badge level. Private Lessons are to be arranged through the Arena’s administration office- Just ask for a Private tuition request form or download the form.

* Bi Monthly membership means you can skate as much as you want in Public sessions and figure sessions for 2 months, Payments for this MUST be made at the beginning of the 2 months:

Cancellation of Lessons

Unless there are extenuating circumstances, coaches require 24hrs cancellation notice by phoning the Coach directly. If the coach is not informed of a cancellation, scheduled lessons will be charged for.

Ice Time

All skaters should be on the ice when the session starts

  • So the same skaters are not always getting the first lesson
  • The skaters make maximum use of the ice time available

Warming Up

All skaters need to arrive at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the session to warm up. This is to reduce the risk of injury and have a more productive training session.

Private instruction is available for skaters who have an equivalent level as to the Skate School Novice 1. Skaters are encouraged to attend the skate school until they have completed or are of equivalent standard to all of Skate School badge levels up to FreeStyle, the twelfth badge level. Private lessons are to be arranged through the arena admistration offices.

Important information

Please note: The Skate School practice sessions are suitable for Skate School beginners up to elementary level figure skaters.

Skaters attending a figure skating session MUST have their membership card scanned at the arena office BEFORE stepping on the ice.

NB: Schedule is during a normal school week only, during school holidays or on Public Holidays, times will vary.

Provided coaches have reviewed all possible options to fit skaters lesson within their session level, coaches can take a skater for a lesson on the other groups session and be on the ice for a maximum of 5min before their lesson. Therefore all coaches will be able to coach the same quantity of lessons they would ordinarily.    Please note group lessons of max 3 skaters is only permitted on their group lessons time not the alternative groups session, as Saturday morning is a peak session recommend only private lessons 1skater:1coach.

Group 1

Pre-Elementary to Basic Novice, Adults (Bronze to Gold), Ice Dance, Synchro skaters that do not compete in Solo – no shadow or joining up with another skater is permitted.

Group 2

Intermediate Novice to Senior, Adult Elite

Note: To give each group an equal amount of ice time there will be 15 minutes overlap 7:15-7:30am with both Groups 1 & 2 on the ice, please be aware of other skaters safety.
